IMD, ESCP, and Warwick Business School are also standout European MBA programmes, offering excellent value and career outcomes across a variety of global industries. ESCP Business School, for example, boasts the highest employment rate in the rankings at 99%. Based in Switzerland, IMD is also one of only two MBA programmes in the country to appear in the rankings.
If you’re thinking about doing an MBA, one question tends to come first: will it pay off? Using the 2025 business school rankings from the Financial Times, The Profs have developed our own ranking system, focusing solely on what matters most for career ROI: earnings and employability. In contrast to many European business school rankings, we’ve stripped out all the fluff, such as ESG scores and overall student satisfaction, to focus purely on financial outcomes.
Here’s the data we used:
- 3-Year Weighted Salary: a long-term view of average salary growth.
- Employment Rate at 3 Months: the probability of securing a job within 90 days.
- From these, we calculated the Expected Salary in your first year post-graduation: salary × probability of employment at three months.
We’ve ranked the top 25 European MBA programmes using these hard numbers alone because we believe this is the best market valuation these brands add to your CV; it’s what employers are realistically going to pay for you. Whether you’ve already chosen your top European business school or are still weighing up your options, our MBA Admissions Consultants can guide you through every step of the application process. In 2025, 89%* of our postgraduate applicants received an offer from their first choice university after working with The Profs.

S-Tier Business Schools with the Highest MBA Salaries (Expected +$170,000)
- SDA Bocconi School of Management — $192,407
- IESE Business School — $175,159
- London Business School — $173,098
These three business schools dominate the European MBA rankings. SDA Bocconi, however, stands out as the only European university with a weighted MBA salary above $200,000 and the only Italian institution in the top 25. With a 95% employment rate, Bocconi offers an exceptional return on investment and strong access to elite roles in consulting, finance, and luxury sectors.
IESE also delivers outstanding results, with a 94% employment rate and an expected salary that exceeds the UK’s top business schools. In fact, Spain has an impressive showing overall, with three of its business schools placing in the top 10, reinforcing the country’s rising influence in global MBA rankings.
London Business School maintains its prestige, being the only UK programme in the highest tier. The university is known for consistently producing MBA graduates who land top-tier jobs in consulting, finance, and tech.
A-Tier MBA Programs (Expected Salary over $150,000)
- Insead — $167,079
- University of Cambridge: Judge — $166,179
- IE Business School — $166,063
- Esade Business School — $165,997
- HEC Paris — $158,106
- University of Oxford: Saïd — $152,544
These six business schools offer some of the strongest salary outcomes in Europe, with expected earnings ranging from $152K to $167K. Despite having the second-highest weighted salary at $198,904, INSEAD has an employment rate of just 84%. This could be due to conditions in the French labour market or the fact that INSEAD has significantly increased its number of MBA graduates in recent years, resulting in greater competition for jobs. At 84%, it now has one of the lowest employment rates among the schools on the list, which brings its expected salary down to $167,079.
Interestingly, there’s a noticeable difference in expected salary between Cambridge and Oxford, with Cambridge MBA grads earning over $13,000 more than their Oxford counterparts. Both universities are internationally recognised for their degree programmes, but Cambridge Judge Business School has seen a boost in this year’s ranking due to its incredible 94% employment rate.
Spain continues to dominate the business school rankings, with IE and Esade securing two more top 10 spots. These are some of the best European business schools for students targeting management consulting, finance, investment banking, or tech roles.
B-Tier MBA Programmes (Expected Salary over $130,000)
- Imperial Business School — $149,440
- IMD — $144,753
- ESCP Business School — $142,468
- Warwick Business School — $131,536
- Mannheim Business School — $130,789
Imperial Business School tops our B-Tier list, with an expected salary just shy of $150,000. Over the past decade, Imperial has consistently ranked among the top five business schools in Europe, known for its strengths in innovation, technology, finance, and entrepreneurial leadership.
Mannheim, on the other hand, narrowly makes the cut. As the only German business school in the top 25, Mannheim is recognised for its world-class management education and consistently strong career outcomes. Like Imperial, Mannheim achieves a 93% employment rate, though its expected salary is lower at $130,789.
C-Tier MBA Programmes (Expected Salary $110,000–$129,000)
- Bayes Business School — $126,812
- EMLyon Business School — $125,467
- Alliance Manchester Business School — $120,605
- Edhec Business School — $118,185
- University of St Gallen — $114,027
- Lisbon MBA Catolica | Nova — $109,723
MBA graduates from C-tier schools can still expect six-figure salaries and solid career prospects. Many of these programmes are located in thriving business hubs — such as Bayes in London or EMLyon in France. These schools are respected globally and offer strong links to local industries, especially in finance, tech, and supply chain management.
It’s worth noting that the University of St Gallen typically performs well in many rankings, but its MBA earnings haven’t kept pace in this year’s ranking. Despite reporting a weighted salary of $140,774, a relatively low employment rate of 81% has placed it at the bottom for employability among the MBA programmes listed.
Lisbon, meanwhile, reports a lower weighted salary of $120,575, but thanks to a higher 91% employment rate, it achieves a higher expected salary than Trinity, Rotterdam, and Cranfield, ultimately earning it a place in the C-tier.
D-Tier MBA Programmes (Expected Salary over $100,000)
- Trinity College Dublin — $107,827
- Essec Business School — $107,608
- Durham University Business School — $103,319
- Rotterdam School of Management — $102,639
- Cranfield School of Management — $101,831
Compared to higher-ranked European business schools, these institutions offer more modest — yet still impressive — salary outcomes, all exceeding $100,000. B-schools like Trinity and Rotterdam often have lower tuition fees and living costs, making them a smart financial choice for many students. If you’re looking for a more affordable route to an MBA, these respected schools are well worth considering.
Among them, ESSEC stands out. It has the lowest weighted salary in the entire top 25 at $115,708, yet boasts an impressive employment rate of 93% (the highest in the D-tier).

FAQ: Best European Business Schools Ranked by Salary (2025)
What are the best European business schools for salary outcomes?
The top European business schools ranked by MBA salary in 2025 include London Business School, IE Business School, and IMD Business School. These schools consistently top Financial Times MBA rankings for salary and employment outcomes, with MBA graduates often earning over $170,000 within three years of graduation.
Data from the Financial Times 2025 Global MBA Rankings shows that INSEAD (France), HEC Paris, and SDA Bocconi School of Management also rank among the top 10 European business schools for post-MBA earnings. These schools attract business leaders from around the world, offering a strong return on investment (ROI) in sectors such as consulting, finance, and international management.
Many of these business schools in Europe also feature in the Bloomberg 2024 rankings, reinforcing their global reputation for business education and employability.
Are there scholarships for European MBA degrees?
Yes – many European institutions offer MBA scholarships to help reduce tuition fees for both local and international students. These scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, leadership potential, and professional experience. Several of the top European business schools also offer need-based funding and specialised awards for candidates from underrepresented backgrounds or specific industries.
Leading schools like HEC Paris, INSEAD, IE Business School, and London Business School provide generous MBA scholarships for full-time MBA candidates. These often cover partial or full tuition fees and may also include support for living expenses. Some European MBA programmes partner with corporate sponsors or offer scholarships for students pursuing careers in fields like finance, supply chain, and innovation.
Scholarships are highly competitive and typically require a separate application, including essays and sometimes interviews. Strong academic standards, leadership achievements, and a compelling career vision are essential to secure funding.
Many students start their scholarship applications early to maximise their chances of success. Our MBA admissions tutors can help you navigate these requirements and strengthen your profile.
In addition to school-based scholarships, there are also external funding opportunities through global organisations and business education foundations. These awards are designed to support access to one of the world’s most sought-after degrees – the full-time MBA – while promoting research excellence, diversity, and leadership in the business world.
Why is INSEAD ranked lower despite a high salary?
INSEAD, one of Europe’s most prestigious business schools, offers an exceptional weighted salary for MBA graduates. However, in 2025, its expected salary score is slightly lower due to two key factors:
- A lower employment rate three months post-MBA
- A larger graduating class, which can affect immediate job placement
Despite this, INSEAD France remains a top choice for global business leaders, especially those interested in executive MBA programmes, international management, and entrepreneurship.
Are European business schools worth the investment?
Yes – top-ranked European business schools such as HEC Paris, IE Business School, IMD, and London Business School offer substantial salary increases and career opportunities. Their MBA programmes deliver excellent ROI, especially in high-paying industries like finance, consulting, and tech.
However, these schools are competitive, attracting thousands of international applicants annually. The Profs’ MBA admissions experts support candidates with everything from profile building to interview coaching, ensuring your application stands out.

Which European business schools offer the best employment outcomes?
Several European business schools stand out for employment rates above 95%, including:
- IE Business School (Spain)
- SDA Bocconi (Italy)
- ESCP Business School (with campuses across Europe)
These business schools in Europe provide robust career services and have strong ties with leading employers like McKinsey, Bain, and Danone. Their executive MBA programmes and Master of Management courses are also highly rated for employability and leadership development.
Are there underrated MBA programmes in Europe?
Yes – while schools like INSEAD and London Business School dominate global rankings, others such as Mannheim Business School, St. Gallen, and Trinity College Dublin also rank highly for salary outcomes.
These European business schools are often more affordable, offer smaller class sizes, and maintain strong alumni networks. Their presence in the top 25 of the 2025 salary rankings shows they offer excellent ROI and deserve attention from prospective MBA students.
How do European MBA programmes compare to those in the US?
European MBA programmes are generally shorter (12–15 months), attract a more diverse student cohort, and offer faster ROI. Top business schools in Europe, such as INSEAD, IESE, and IMD, focus on international business and leadership.
Additionally, MBA tuition fees in Europe tend to be lower than in the US, while campuses in cities like Paris, Barcelona, and Munich offer global career opportunities.
Many European MBA programmes also offer executive education courses, dual degrees, and flexible formats tailored to experienced professionals.
What’s the difference between an MBA and a Master in Management (MiM)?
An MBA is typically for professionals with 3–5+ years of experience, offering access to senior roles and higher post-graduation salaries. Many industry leaders choose MBAs or even Executive MBAs to accelerate their careers, especially into C-suite positions.
A Master in Management (MiM), on the other hand, is designed for recent graduates starting their careers. These master’s programmes – including MSc degrees in areas like global management or finance – are ideal for those seeking to build expertise before entering the workforce.
Top European business schools like HEC Paris, ESCP, and IE Business School offer both MBA and MiM degrees. However, MBA grads from these schools report higher average earnings, especially in strategic fields like supply chain, finance, and global management.
Ultimately, your choice depends on your experience level, career goals, and the type of education that will best support your development as an industry leader.
