Qualified Science teacher with a PhD in Physics, specialising in Neuroscience and Computational Physics

About

Dr Priscilla has been a teacher and tutor for more than 15 years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Astrophysics and a Master’s and PhD in Physics with specialisations in Neuroscience and Computational Physics. Dr Priscilla supports students from school-level to PhD-level, covering topics including Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Neuroscience, and Computational Physics (particularly Python and Neuron). She has also worked as a proofreader and scientific advisor for Master’s and PhD theses. In addition to being an expert subject tutor, Dr Priscilla is a passionate mentor who encourages her students to discover and pursue their own interests, as well as develop the skills needed to succeed in higher education.

Experience

I've been teaching with TheProfs for almost a year and around 400 hours of lessons. Some of my students are either IB maths and physics but the majority of them are attending BScs in Physics at different universities. I really enjoy teaching any undergrad math and physics courses and I'm happy to help with other useful skills such as scientific writing, exam technique and study schedule. I would be more than happy to teach any advanced theoretical physics too! I try to make topics as easy as possible, often I help the teaching remotely showing little experiments to help visualising the physical processes. My students enjoy the lessons and show a huge success rate at exams, scoring an average mark of 67%.

I've started working as a private tutor during my first year at University. I have a 15 years experience teaching teenagers and adults from high school to university, ranging from Physics to Mathematics to Chemistry. I have also taught severals SEND students. Since 2020 I've been teaching laboratories, QFT and nuclear physics at the University of Southampton.
