Mark is a seasoned tutor, with over a decade of teaching experience and an impressive academic background. Holding an MA from St Andrews, an MSc from King’s College and a Doctorate from the University of Edinburgh, as well as being a statistician for the UK Civil Service, Mark has gained valuable research experience. His outstanding contributions have been recognised through numerous awards and accolades, including the Royal Society of Edinburgh National Scholarship for Doctoral Research and multiple teaching and research grants. Currently, Mark serves as an Associate Professor at the American University in London, where he provides personalised support to students pursuing a BPS-accredited degree and has been the sole quantitative dissertation supervisor there for 5 years. Mark’s expertise spans various disciplines, including biological psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and research methods. His greatest strength lies in his ability to make abstract concepts relatable to his students.

Experience
I have over 10 years experience teaching at the undergraduate level. At the University of Edinburgh I organised all small-group research methods teaching on the Psychology degree, both delivering my own classes, and providing the structure for others to deliver theirs.
At The American University I have taught on almost all biological/statistical courses across the degree. These include first and final year biological psychology classes, cognitive neuroscience, quantitative methods, experimental methods, clinical psychology, health psychology, psychopathology, and personality & intelligence classes.
I have also been the institution's sole quantitative dissertation supervisor for 5 years, and am proud to say that a number of my undergraduate students have either gone on to Oxbridge or Russell group universities and/or have had their work published in places such as the BPS student journal. I can honestly say that adding-value and helping students reach their full potential is the passion that drives my career.
