Cambridge-educated Geography, English and admissions tutor with a BA in Geography and 10+ years of tutoring experience

I regularly prepare students for selective school and university admissions, from Common Entrance exams (7+, 11+, 13+, and 16+) through to university applications, Oxbridge interviews, personal statements, and admissions tests. I have particular experience preparing students for the TSA and TARA tests, helping them build the reasoning, problem-solving, and verbal analysis skills needed to approach these assessments calmly and strategically. Earlier this year, I coached several students who went on to secure places at London universities after successfully completing the TARA. Many of these students came from maths and science backgrounds, so a major focus was helping them express complex ideas more clearly, structure short written responses, and develop a more precise academic writing style. I also supported a non-native English speaker with the critical thinking component, working on how to read dense passages carefully, identify the writer’s argument, and evaluate claims.

At the British-Georgian Academy, an international school in Tbilisi, I teach primary English as a Second Language (ESL) using the Cambridge Primary English curriculum and Read Write Inc. phonics. Alongside this, I teach private ESL lessons to students of all ages — particularly learners from China and Russia — focusing on reading, writing, and spoken fluency. I also prepare older students for English proficiency exams such as IELTS and Cambridge B2 First, targeting the specific skills each test demands, from structured writing to clear, confident speaking.

In Geography, I tutor KS3, GCSE, and A-Level students across all major exam boards, supporting them with conceptual understanding, essay structure, and exam technique. I take a diagnostic approach, identifying each student’s weaknesses and targeting key skills such as analytical writing, argument development, and exam timing. Many of my students have achieved A and A* grades through focused, consistent guidance.

Finally, I have significant experience supporting neurodivergent students — including those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and selective mutism — by tailoring lessons to individual learning profiles. My approach emphasises structure, visual support, and confidence-building, and my experience in both classroom teaching and one-to-one tuition means I know how to manage these situations effectively and sensitively.
